A few HAPi. thoughts

HAPi. is a true collaborative firm; as such, feedback from individuals, communities, and building committees are welcome and encouraged. Workshops and other opportunities for this purpose will have a place in this downtown studio.

Founded in 2004 by Jeff Jahnke, HAPi. represents over two decades of architectural practice, rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. The studio's approach comes from diverse influences: travels that reveal how different cultures create and use space, outdoor adventures that foster a deep appreciation for natural materials and light, and an artistic perspective that sees architecture as both practical design and creative expression.

Our studio believes that great architecture happens when precision meets purpose—when every decision serves both how a space looks and how it works for the people who use it. We believe the most powerful designs are those where beauty and practicality become inseparable, where thoughtful planning creates spaces that just feel right. Our approach is simple: clean lines and honest materials should create environments that are both striking to look at and genuinely wonderful to live in.

Our Values

HAPi. is a true collaborative

This isn't just our tagline—it's how we approach every project. We believe the best architecture emerges from the intersection of expertise and community input, where professional knowledge meets local wisdom and user needs.

Innovation meets practicality

We incorporate the most contemporary, industry-accepted, and approved materials, technologies, and design techniques. But innovation without practicality is merely spectacle. We want every design decision to serve both aesthetic vision and functional reality.

Responsible design

We pay special attention to materials and approaches that compliment the proposed site, while remaining feasible within the determined construction budget. Great architecture respects its context—environmental, cultural, and economic.
